From 1975 to 1979 (I think !) Hot Wheels vehicles were sold in Italy in all card boxes similar to the Matchbox models of the time , here I am trying to document all known models and variations found in these boxes , if you have any information which may be useful to this page please drop me an email.
The models which come in these boxes have a strange matt sheen to them , as opposed to the more normal gloss finish on Hot Wheels models.
There are two distinct styles of boxes, one with four colour panels , and the other with one solid colour panel containing information pertaining to the manufacture :-
e.g. ©Mattel, Inc. 1977 Hawthorne, CA 90250 MADE & PRINTED IN HONG KONG.
Manufactured for Mattel, all Rights Reserved. ® and indicate U.S. trademarks of Mattel, Inc.
The first mention of these models were found in this 1975 Italian issue catalog :-

The models were shipped in colourful cartons , each containing 36 boxed pieces , these are of interest to collectors because of the models pictured on them.
The box was designed to be cut and folded into a display stand for the models!
