In 1971 Mattel sponsered a 3 car drag racing team. One of those three cars was an AMX driven by Ed Shaver (see below, left) The "Ed Shaver " version of the Hot Wheels Custom AMX - (see opposite, left) came complete with stickers to match the real car. It is not known how many Shaver AMX's were produced but all were blue , and all came in the green "Racing car series" packaging. The model pictured was found in a store in Jersey (the Channel Island, not the East coast State!), Less than five are known to exist in blister packs , less than ten loose ones have been documented, but there will be some in collections where either the owner does not want to diclose what he has, or does not know !
