Matchbox New Austin Mini Van

Lesney enjoyed huge success with their various issues  in the 1960's, to prop up ever decreasing sales of the new Matchbox mainline a Minivan has joined the line , this one is a real success.

The first issue was in tan and widely available in the UK ,the second issue was a very limited run of just 600 for a swapmeet in New Mexico , USA :-

Next came a release in Emerald green to celebrate 55 years of Matchbox , this one was in the mainline and quite easy to find , a version of this was given out by Mattel reps at the German trade toyfair.

Further use was made of the green model at the Leipzig show in Germany.

The 2008 Superfast Series was only released in the USA , the packaging as can be seen was vastly improved , most of the Mini Vans were found with the retro wheels , but a much harder find was the tri spoke issue.

The 2008 mainline contained a Yellow/ Orange offering , but much harder to find was a UK exclusive for a toy show in Stratford-Upon-Avon , this code 1 model was a limited run of just 400 pieces.

Some (not so) bright spark at Mattel thought this 2010 issue would benefit from not being issued in ROW markets (including the UK !) :-
