"3801 Clyde's Steam Icon"
3801 was the class leader of five C-38 class locomotives manufactured by Clyde Engineering for the New South Wales Government Railways. This locomotive was the 463rd steam locomotive built by Clyde. It was delivered in January 1943 with the fifth unit being delivered in 1945. During the ensuing 22 years, before being retired in 1965, 3801 operated in excess of 2,360,OOOkms, hauling mainly passenger trains. During the following 10 years, the locomotive was operated as a working exhibit, accumulating a further 115,OOOkm. The 3801 is now operated by 3801 Limited and is used for various excursions.
