1997 Moolabin Derailment.

On the 21st of June 1997, at approximately 0530hrs, S708 (QRX shunt) and S705 (Container shunt) collided in Moolabin shunt yard where the QRX crossover track meets the main shunt straight. Fortunately there were no injuries recorded. This accident had many contributing factors, but when looked at closely the main cause of this accident was communication (or lack there of). Too their credit Queensland Rail have agreed to upgrade radio communication and procedures at Moolabin to reduce the probability of a reoccurrence.
